Meet the Founder
Jennifer JJ Lee, known to many as JJ, is the visionary force behind ESQUE/BY. With a background at the intersection of fashion, beauty, and science, she is redefining bespoke design by blending craftsmanship and technology to empower self-expression.
Her mission is deeply personal. Inspired by helping her mother Lily regain comfort and confidence after breast cancer surgery, JJ believes custom clothing should celebrate individuality, restore joy, and feel like it was made just for you. Because it is!

Fabrics + Materials
The foundation of every piece begins with meticulously sourced fabrics, materials, and embellishments from Paris to Milan, Jaipur to Bangkok, and beyond. We work closely with local mills and suppliers in New York and across the U.S. to ensure quality, sustainability, and craft remain at the heart of every design. Each partnership is chosen with intention to support textile excellence and responsible creation.
A Look Into Our Process
We love experimenting with textiles to create truly custom pieces. From hand-embellishing to surface treatments, we treat fabric as a canvas for storytelling.
This marbled look was inspired by Suminagashi, the ancient Japanese art of floating ink on water. It became a deeply personal process, rooted in childhood memories of paper marbling.
