Consultation: NYC + Virtual

Yes, we provide both in-person and virtual consultations. Our NYC studio is by appointment only. Virtual consultations are scheduled via video call to accommodate clients.

You can schedule a consultation by clicking 'Book a Consultation'. It will take you to our New Client Form to fill-out in preparation for our appointment.

Please complete our New Client Form, where you can share style references, inspiration photos, and fit details to help us understand your vision. For in-person consultations, we recommend wearing form-fitting clothing and undergarments or shoes related to your design.

Until December 2025, we are waiving our clubhouse and consultation fees for early ESQUE/BY insiders.

Absolutely! You’re welcome to bring a friend or family member to your consultation for support and input.

We kindly ask you to please send us everyone’s information in advance. The guest count is limited to 2 or fewer.

Consultations typically last between 45 minutes to an hour, allowing ample time to discuss your ideas and preferences.

Definitely. We offer virtual consultations, digital previews, and domestic shipping for all U.S. orders. Select services may vary by location.

Custom Design Process

The custom order process begins with a consultation to discuss your vision, followed by design sketches, fabric selection, and fittings to ensure the perfect fit.

The timeline varies depending on the complexity of the design, but typically ranges from 6 to 10 weeks from the initial consultation to final delivery.

We can accomodate earlier requests, but please let us know in advance before the in-take meeting, so we can evaluate your timeline.

Please note for demi-bespoke pieces, please allow for 6-10 weeks after our team collects your measurements.

Yes, we encourage clients to express their fabric preferences, and we will do our best to source materials that align with your vision.

Absolutely! We create custom pieces for festivals, galas, boardroom meetings, PRIDE, Halloween, and more.

Absolutely. We create custom pieces for galas, festivals, red carpets, maternity, birthdays, and more. If the moment matters to you, we’ll help you dress for it.

Yes. We offer tech pack creation, fit consulting, and sample development guidance for stylists, emerging designers, and creative collaborators. Yes. Our process is human-centered and AI-enabled. We use AI-powered tools to support sketch visualization, material exploration, and efficiency. Technology plays a supporting role while our expert team brings each garment to life with care and craftsmanship.

Yes! Every body is welcome here. Our team is trained to adjust for different body types and styling preferences.

We include up to two rounds of fittings or alterations. Minor edits like hemming or slight tapering (under 1") are complimentary. More extensive changes may incur additional tailoring fees.

Yes. Once you place a custom order, we’ll share a measurement guide or schedule a virtual fit session.

Alterations, Returns, + Delivery

Each custom order is final sale.

For non-custom items, returns are accepted within 7 days of delivery if unworn and with tags.

We don’t offer direct exchanges. Please return the original item and place a new order.

Custom pieces, workshops, and final sale items are non-returnable.

Yes, unless the item is damaged or incorrect.

Notify us within 48 hours of delivery. We’ll assist immediately.

UPS Ground shipping in the 48 contiguous U.S. states. NYC concierge delivery (for orders $750 and up) Is available Monday–Friday, 10am–6pm to addresses in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens.

Pickup at our studio is also an option Monday–Friday, 10am–6pm.

No. Shipping costs are based on size, weight, and destination.

Design Revisions + Studio Policies

Two rounds are included. Additional revisions are $100 per round.

Significant changes after approval may incur extra fees and delay timelines.

Cancellations under 24 hours may incur a $50 rescheduling fee. No-shows may result in forfeiture.

If we don’t hear from you for 90 days, we may mark your project as inactive. A rebooking fee or storage fee may apply if you choose to resume.

Yes. We offer one complimentary mending session within 30 days of delivery. This covers minor issues like loose threads or fallen embellishments.

Our garments are crafted to last, but should you experience an issue with wear during that window, reach out and we’ll assess it together.

Please note: This warranty does not cover sizing changes, full alterations, or misuse. After 30 days, any additional fixes or alterations may be quoted based on complexity.

Clubhouse Membership

An insider community offering early access to studio perks, waived fees, and exclusive updates.

Place a $295 deposit to become an Early Insider. This deposit goes toward your future custom piece.

We’re capping Early Insider membership at 50 total spots, available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Payment + Security

We accept all major credit and debit cards.

Yes. We offer flexible payment options. A $295 deposit secures your order, 50% production deposit after your concept and fabric is finalized and the remaining balance is due at pickup. These deposit go toward the final cost of your garment. For some projects, we may offer custom installment plans.

Sourcing + Upcycling

We work with a range of reputable, ethical suppliers globally, including premium deadstock vendors and mills that specialize in artisanal and natural fabrics.

We aim to use sustainable materials wherever possible, including deadstock textiles, organic cottons, eco-dyes, and recycled blends. Not every garment will use these exclusively, but we prioritize mindful sourcing that reduces waste.

We work with vetted partners and local makers who uphold high standards of craftsmanship and fair labor. Our NYC studio team is paid fairly and supports the preservation of garment district expertise.

Yes. Every ESQUE/BY piece is designed, fit, and handcrafted in our NYC studio by expert tailors and patternmakers. We use both local and internationally sourced premium fabrics.

Absolutely. We offer creative upcycling services. Bring in a garment you love (or used to love), and we’ll explore ways to give it a new life.

For clients who prefer a more tactile experience, we offer guided fabric sourcing upon request. Navigating New York’s garment district can be overwhelming — if you’d like support swatching or selecting fabrics alongside one of our stylists, let us know during your intake. This service is best suited for bridal and specialty projects. Additional fees apply, beginning at $125/hour.

The Academy

Yes, we offer both covering various aspects of fashion design, suitable for beginners and advanced students alike. You can visit our Academy Classes, here.

If you notify us 7 days or more before your class, you are eligible for a 50% refund, a studio credit, or a one-time reschedule to a future date. If you notify us at least 72 hours before your class, we’re happy to offer astudio credit or a one-time reschedule. For cancellations made within 72 hours of the class, we are unable to offer credits, transfers, or refunds. We’re also unable to offer makeups or credits for no-shows. Studio credits are valid for 3 months. Note: If we are able to fill your spot from our waitlist, we may offer a studio credit. Please reach out and we’ll do our best to help.

A list of required materials will be provided upon registration, tailored to the specific class you choose.

Yes, participants receive a certificate of completion at the end of each course.

While this is not an accredited university program, our classes are designed to offer hands-on, industry-relevant skills taught by working professionals.

Because our class sizes are limited and each seat is reserved in advance, we do not offer refunds for cancellations.

However, if you let us know at least 72 hours before your class, we're happy to offer a studio credit or a one-time reschedule to a future date.

For cancellations made within 72 hours of the class, we are unable to offer credits, transfers, or refunds.

We’re also unable to offer makeups or credits for no-shows, as our instructors and team prepare specifically for each student in advance.

Studio credits are valid for 3 months from the original booking date.

Waitlist: If we’re able to fill your spot from our waitlist, we may offer a studio credit even within the 72-hour window - just reach out and we’ll do our best to help.

Classes are structured to build from day one. If registration has closed or the series has started, please join the waitlist for the next cohort.

We will offer an after-school Kids Sewing Club and a Fashion Portfolio Lab for teens beginning February, March 2026. These are small group sessions designed with younger makers in mind.

Founding student discounts and limited-time early bird rates are offered as we pilot each course. We also offer bundles for multi-class sign-ups.

If an instructor is unexpectedly unavailable, we’ll do our best to provide a qualified substitute. If we’re unable to do so, the class will be rescheduled. If you can’t make the new date, you’ll receive a full studio credit valid for 3 months. Refunds will only be issued if no reschedule is offered.

All sessions are held at the ESQUE/BY Studio in NYC unless otherwise specified. Select offsite workshops may be available for corporate or community partners.
